How we work

People know Lloyd & Gravell for far more than just the quality of our work. They know us for who we are and what we do to make their projects a success. Because while we construct outstanding buildings, we also work hard to contribute to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the communities we’re employed in.

Outstanding value

The minimum our clients expect is that we complete their building works on budget, on time, to a high standard and in line with their specification and any statutory requirements.

But true value for money is about more than constructing a quality building, on budget and on time. While these things are crucial for success, it’s also possible to build social and economic value, benefit communities and protect the environment without compromising on anything else.

In all our work, that’s what we do.

How we build strong relationships with our clients

When we’re on-site, we know we’re representing our clients as well as ourselves. So we work hard to be a good neighbour and a considerate constructor.

We treat everyone we work with in the way we hope to be treated ourselves – with respect, honesty and warmth. An ethos of customer and community care, partnership, collaboration, quality, responsibility and reliability runs throughout the company and is shared by the whole team.

One lead point of contact throughout your project

We get to know the people we work with well. All our clients have one lead point of contact from the senior management team who works with them from the pre-contract and design stage all the way through to handover and aftercare. And our simple corporate structure allows us to be responsive and make decisions quickly.

Each project lead meets with their clients every month to give an update on progress, receive feedback and agree on the next steps.

This hands-on, personal interaction with senior management gives our clients continuity of service and assurance that the decisions we agree with them will be carried out.

Our approach

Challenges arise on every project. However, we do everything we can to solve them and minimise the disruption they cause. We take our social responsibility seriously and don’t only think about our business and immediate team.

With our roots deeply embedded within the area we think and care about our local communities, suppliers and the opportunities we can create for training and employment, in particular for apprentices.   We explore the delivery of community projects and identification of environmental benefits we can create from the work and projects we secure.

All who worked on my home could not have been more pleasant, punctual and hard working. The Site Manager and workmen went out of their way to make sure they caused as little disturbance as possible. They were so nice. Even though they were very professional, they still had that personal touch. Making sure I was happy with their ongoing progress. I gave a thank you card to the council and all involved in the refurbishment. Thank you very much.

How we build a workforce for the future

For our business to continue to succeed, we need to attract and employ the craftsmen and women of the future. One of the best ways we do this is through apprenticeships.

How we help build strong communities

We’re committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work. And we understand that building works can be disruptive, so do everything we can to make our work a positive experience for the local community, particularly children and young people.

How we build a strong, local supply chain

Our success depends on us having a skilled and reliable local supply chain. We consider our suppliers and contractors to be an extension of our business and always share opportunities for training and support.

How we protect the environment and help build a sustainable future

We aim to have the lowest possible impact on the environment and help ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
