How we work: Our communities

Born and bred within the Gwendraeth Valley, our roots are deeply embedded within our local communities and are at the heart of all we do. The opportunities provided to us by local clients have enabled us to grow, develop and diversify the business over the last 30 years.

We are committed to making a real difference in the communities where we live and work and do this through providing local, sustainable employment, training and work experience opportunities. We also take every opportunity to create and contribute to projects that benefit the local community and have lasting social value.

This commitment runs throughout our staff team, who come up with many ideas for the community projects we set up or become involved in.

We are committed to developing a robust local supply chain and will source, wherever possible, materials and services that are available within the project’s locality.  Creating a local supply chain keeps money close to where it is earned, boosting local businesses, employment and the economy as a whole contributing to the vision of the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act.

We will continue to encourage and support new supply chain members who wish to join our registered list and those who have worked on previous projects.  Please click here if you are interested in joining our approved supply chain list to obtain a supplier registration form.

We support local organisations and groups in terms of sponsorship, donation of material/labour etc.   We also work with other local community groups and organisations to provide opportunities for local people to:

  • Gain work experience
  • Learn new skills
  • Develop their interview skills
  • Grow in confidence
  • Return to work

We design and build a range of projects and undertake refurbishment, remodelling and repair works to existing buildings.

We’re a Considerate Constructor

We understand construction works can be disruptive for local communities.  So we do everything we can to minimise this disruption and make what we do a positive experience for everyone involved or affected.

Our projects are registered with the Considerate Constructor Scheme, and in recognition, to our commitment to the Code of Considerate Practice, we have received National Gold & Silver Awards, with the majority of our contracts receiving Performance Beyond Compliance certificates. The scheme is designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements, and the Code of Considerate Practice focuses on the following three areas:

  • Respect the community
  • Care for the environment
  • Value the workforce
