What we did:
The project involved an exciting redevelopment project at Queen Elizabeth High School and Carmarthen Leisure Centre to include the refurbishment of the existing internal sports changing facilities and construction of a new stand-alone building at Queen Elizabeth High site. We were responsible for assembling the design team Architectural, Structural, Civils (including drainage of the foul and surface water drainage), SAB application and Mechanical & Electrical to complete and fully coordinate the project design. External works included the creation of new paths and repair of existing paths.
The project aimed to bring together modern sports facilities and a vibrant new community hub which would provide an opportunity and mechanism to build capacity in the local community. It would support the school in achieving integrated provision of school education, informal/formal education, and social work and health education and promotion services. The facility would encourage family and Community engagement through its offer of kitchen areas to facilitate cookery, nutrition and skills classes for parents and children. Classrooms to be used to facilitate out of school hours additional support and homework facilities for pupils in a safe, warm environment and a teaching area to support parenting classes.

Refurbishment of the Existing Changing Room Block which included two main changing rooms with private shower cubicles and enclosed WC cubicles for improved privacy and hygiene, each capable of accommodating 30 students. Construction of a new accessible and inclusive stand-alone Timberframe Community Hub, associated new services, infrastructure and drainage installations to serve the new building.
Key things we had to consider:
